CHINESE SUMMER CAMP 2009

Looking for a fun and educational summer camp? We’re here for you. All children 5 - 13 are welcome.

The Confucius Institute is a nonprofit educational partnership among Emory University, Atlanta Public Schools, and Nanjing University, China supported with funding from the Chinese Language Council International (Hanban). The Institute’s mission is to foster greater understanding of Chinese language and culture among school children and the public in the Atlanta area.

Our goal for the Chinese Summer Camp is to introduce Chinese language and culture to K-8 children through fun, creative, and educational activities. This two-week whole-day camp (Mon. – Fri.) will consist of a wide variety of activities administered by volunteers, counselors, and Chinese cultural experts. Children will have Mandarin lessons, practice calligraphy and Chinese painting, learn Chinese songs, dance, martial arts, paper cutting, games, Chinese arts, and gain knowledge of Chinese folk stories, festivals and customs, all under close supervision of staff of the camp and the Confucius Institute. We will conclude the camp with a talent show to showcase what our campers have learned.
