The 2016 Chinese Culture Fair to highlight the Confucius Institute's mission of fostering the learning of Chinese language and culture among schoolchildren and the public will be held on Emory campus on September 23. The annual Chinese culture fair is organized by the Confucius Institute with assistance by the Chinese program at Emory. The day's colorful program includes workshops on various aspects of Chinese culture such as folk dance, traditional martial arts and Chinese shadowboxing, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese watercolor painting, Chinese opera masks painting, and Chinese papercutting.
School children from Wesley International Academy, North Atlanta High School, and the Lovett School are invited to join the workshops. At the workshops, participants will learn about the philosophical ideas informing the various forms of traditional Chinese art and join the fun through hands-on activities. It will be a day of celebration of cultural diversity and a day of learning to enhance cultural competence. The Culture Fair will end with a taste of traditonal Chinese food of dumplings, spring rolls, and fried rice.
Come and join us. All are welcome.
